Last week I talked about the importance of focusing on a candidate’s platform and policies rather than getting sucked into the emotions of political promises. In today’s post, I’m going to show you how to do that.
Gather Policy Updates
Knowing what policies are proposed and are already in place gives you the power to make informed business decisions. Understanding these policies will greatly benefit you and your business. Getting policy updates is hard work and it takes time, but it’s worth it.
Dissect the Meaning
Policies can be ambiguous. Read policies carefully to make sure you understand what they really mean. If you don’t understand – ask! Dig in until you’re sure you understand what the policy says, what it really means, and how it will be applied in real business scenarios.
Research the Impact
Once you know what the policy is and understand its potential impact, do some research.
A policy can say it’s going to do something, but if that’s not playing out in implementation, that’s important to know. Research will provide the hard data to evaluate effectiveness and enact change.
As business leaders, it’s our responsibility to ensure best practices happen within our buildings and within our greater communities. Don’t let another election cycle go by without fully understanding the impact of policies and platforms in your area.
